Grace - Grace….Continuing Grace

  1. Introduction

  1. Bumps on the road to Amazing Grace - Tamar, Rahab, Ruth, and Bathsheba.
  2. This morning we will look at Mary and the Virgin Birth

  1. God’s grace shown to Mary - vs 18-20

  1. Vs 18 - Understanding the Hebrew marriage process

    B   Vs 19 - Joseph - a righteous man- a merciful man -

  1.   What is a righteous - a just man?
  2. Vs 20 - Obeyed the Angel of the Lord.

III.    God’s grace shown to Mankind vs 21-22

  1. Vs 21 -Jesus means Savior and the duty of a Savior is to save someone from danger. Jesus         will save his people from their sin. - Jesus will (So-zo) rescue from danger - provide         divine     salvation.
  2.   Why is the virgin birth so important?
  3. Jesus will save His people from their sins.
  4.   Amazing Grace!
  5. Vs 22 - The “all this” that Matthew mentions was the story just told to us of Mary and             Joseph. But he makes it clear that it was done for a purpose—“that it might be             fulfilled which was spoken” through Isaiah
  6. God’s grace - in a name - vs 23

Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son,     and they shall call his name Immanuel” (which means, God with us).

  1. Vs 23 - Matthew present his 1st Old Testament prophecy fulfillment *Isaiah 7:14
  2.   Men may have forgotten God’s word and His promises but God doesn’t

  1. God’s grace requires obedience vs 24-25

  1. Vs 24 - 25 - The dream that had begun for Joseph in verse 20 ends in these verses with him         waking and choosing to obey everything the angel had told him to do. This fine man had         learned to “trust and obey.” As His betrothed - Mary had learned earlier. Obedience follows Grace’s Salvation of the human soul
